English 699. Research and Thesis
Credit Hours (1-6).
Prerequisite: Eligibility for admission to candidacy and approval of the Dean of the College of Graduate and Extended Education.
Successful completion of six semester hours of Research and Thesis is required for the Master of Arts degree in English. The completion of a thesis enables graduate students to investigate independently specific problems or areas of interest under the direction of a graduate faculty member who is supported by at least two other graduate faculty members serving as the student's thesis committee. The specific focus of each student's thesis will vary from student to student and requires the approval of the supervising graduate faculty member, the graduate student's two other thesis committee members, and the Dean of the Graduate and Extended Education. Students may complete both traditional research oriented theses or creative theses that are composed of essays, poetry, and/or fiction written specifically for the thesis and under the supervision of the committee.
