V. Course Description: Designed to provide students with an overview of the fitness,
strength and conditioning discipline and the array of careers currently available
in the fitness and sport performance industry. Additional focus is placed on the capacities
to demonstrate and critique exercise technique targeting strength, power, endurance,
flexibility, and agility.

- Certification and training for fitness professionals.
- Work life and financial rewards for fitness professionals.
- Introduction to the strength and conditioning professions.
- Certification and training for strength and conditioning professionals.
- Work life and financial rewards for strength and conditioning professionals.
- Graduate programs for strength and conditioning.
- Exercise technique for the strength lifts (e.g. squat, deadlift, bench press, pull
ups, and technique variants).
- Exercise technique for the power lifts (e.g. clean, jerk, snatch, and technique variants).
- Exercise technique for agility (e.g. change of direction, balance, body awareness).
- Exercise technique for endurance running.
- Exercise technique for flexibility exercises (e.g. static, dynamic, Proprioceptive
Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF).
VI. Detailed Description of Conduct of Course:
Course instruction strategies may include lecture, demonstration, activity, performance
analysis, and oral communication activities.

Having successfully completed this course, students will be able to:

- Perform proper technique in the squat, deadlift, bench press, pull-ups, and technique
variants.
- Evaluate proper technique in the squat, deadlift, bench press, pull-ups, and technique
variants.
- Evaluate proper technique in the hang snatch, hang clean, and jerk.
- Perform proper technique in change of direction, balance, and body awareness exercises.
- Evaluate proper technique in change of direction, balance, and body awareness exercises.

- Perform proper technique in static, dynamic, and PNF flexibility exercises.
