HSCI 790: Culminating Experience

Instructional Method: Three hours lecture.
Note(s): This is a Pass/Fail Course.
A planned, supervised, and evaluated experience that requires students to demonstrate proficiency in the application of knowledge and skills acquired during the program. Pass/Fail.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Students complete either a scholarly project of a practicum.
Students select ONE of the following options for the culminating experience:
A. Scholarly Project Scholarly Project
Students conduct a scholarly project that is related to the health sciences' field and will contribute something new and/or significant to the field. The final product is a written document comprised of a comprehensive review of the literature and application of relevant research methods, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation of results. Students will provide an oral presentation which demonstrates achievement of the course learning objectives and program outcomes.

B. Practicum with eFolio
Practicum
Students will be evaluated on an ongoing basis by their Site Preceptor. A mid-semester and final evaluation completed by the Site Preceptor will assess the student’s achievement of his/her learning objectives and performance. A minimum of 120 hours is required for the practicum.
eFolio
Students provide evidence of knowledge acquisition and skill development by using course work and practicum- related artifacts. The artifacts presented are related to the student's academic work while enrolled in the program and will demonstrate competency in each of the program outcomes.
