History 488H. Honors Thesis
Credit Hours (3).
Prerequisites: Enrollment in the Honors Academy, completion of all other Honors Academy requirements, a minimum 3.5 GPA in all courses and in history, senior standing.
Conducting research and writing a thesis for a bachelor's degree with honors in History. In order to be eligible for a degree with honors, the student must receive a grade of "A" or "B" for the thesis. Course may not be repeated.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
The content of the course will vary according to the nature of each student's thesis. All final projects must be approved by the Department and the Honors Council.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
The student's final project supervisor will ask two other faculty members, one of whom will be from the History Department, to serve as readers. The student's work will be evaluated by this committee.
Goals and Objectives of Course
Students will be able to demonstrate an ability to research, analyze, organize, and effectively write a sustained piece of original work.
Assessment Measures
The supervisor of the final project and the final project committee, based on their expertise, will be responsible for determining if the student thesis meets the goals and objectives of the course.
