I. Course Title: Collaborative Piano Ensemble

IV. Prerequisites: MUSC 153 or instructor permission
V. Course Description:
Collaborative Piano Ensemble will assign individual pianists to serve departmental collaboration needs. Students will be assigned by instructor to vocal or instrumental studios as needed, or to existing ensembles with need for a keyboard player. Students will be expected to serve four hours per week of contact time with their given assignment.
VI. Detailed Description of Content of the Course:
This course will give piano majors the opportunity to work collaboratively with a variety of solo studios and ensembles to fulfill their required ensemble credit each semester.
VI. Detailed Description of Conduct of Course:
Students will be assigned by instructor to various studios and ensembles. Individual studio/ensemble teachers will then assign student appropriate material for lessons/rehearsals, and student will be responsible for preparing said material, attending weekly lessons, and conducting weekly rehearsal with assigned collaborative partners.
VII. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
Further development of collaborative skills, general musical experience, rehearsal techniques, technical facility, and repertory exposure. Students will work with instructor in individual lessons to deepen their understanding and mastery of said skills, and gain invaluable experience in collaboration with fellow students, supporting the entire department in rehearsal and performance.
VIII. Assessment Measures:
Students will be assessed by assigned teachers/ensemble directors as to their successful completion of assigned duties.
