MUSC670. Advanced Applied Music
One-half or one-hour private lesson (1-2).
Prerequisite: Satisfactory entrance audition or completion of MUSC372 with a grade of "C" or better.
Graduate level applied music instruction for students who have met their major requirements in applied music. May be taken again for credit.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
Private instruction in the Applied Music Level System at levels VII or higher as appropriate to the student's level of advancement.
Covers technique, repertoire, musicianship, sight-reading. Specific requirements for each level of competency in each applied area are on file in the Department of Music office.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Goals and Objectives of the Course
Students are expected to develop both technical and musical skill advancement at a specified level in applied music performance.
Assessment Measures
The applied teacher assesses progress made in the advancement of technical and musical skills at the end of each semester relative to technical and musical skills demonstrated at the beginning of each semester.
An applied music jury is optional. If the students chooses to perform for a jury, the jury determines if the required level of competency has been achieved and assigns a final grade. The final grade for the course is the average of the grade assigned by the jury and the grade assigned by the applied teacher following the jury performance.
