MUSC698. Directed Study
Hours and credit to be arranged (1-4).
Prerequisites: MUSC601, eligiblity for admission to candidacy and approval of dean of the Graduate College.
A maximum of four credits may be counted toward a master's degree in music. See "Directed Study" on p. 327.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
The Directed Study is a course designed by the student after thorough consultation with the professor who will supervise the study.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
The conduct of this course will vary as appropriate to the nature of the specific problems or areas of interest being studied.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
Students are expected to study problems or areas of interest not covered in regularly scheduled courses at the University.
Assessment Measures
The Directed Study grade will be recorded as either pass or fail. Assessment measures will vary as appropriate to the nature of the specific problems or areas of interest being studied.
Other Course Information
Once the nature of the Directed Study is determined by the student and the supervising professor, the student will complete six copies of a form available in the Graduate College Office. This form includes the purpose and title of the Directed Study, the number of semester hours of credit to be given for the study, and a brief statement about the nature of the study. The form must be signed by the supervising professor, the student's adviser, the department chairperson and the dean of the College in which the department is located before it is submitted to the dean of the Graduate College for final approval.
