NURS 699: Research Thesis

Credit Hours (3) Hours and credits to be arranged with the approval of the student's thesis advisor and academic advisor

Provides the opportunity for critical inquiry into a problem related to advanced nursing practice under the direction of a thesis advisory committee. See Thesis Guidelines in the Graduate Catalog and School of Nursing Graduate Handbook.

 

Detailed Description of Content of the Course

The objectives for the course are derived from the School of Nursing's mission and philosophy, and facilitate achievement of the School's program outcomes.

 

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

The following teaching strategies will be employed:

  • Student-thesis advisor discussions, student-thesis committee meetings, independent study, data collection, data analysis, and written thesis.

 

Objective of the Course

Synthesize knowledge of nursing theory and related theories, research methods, and advanced nursing practice in conducting a research study.

 

Assessment Measures

Thesis defense before thesis advisory committee (pass/fail).
