PSYC 611: Methodology and Program Evaluation in Psychology

Prerequisites: Graduate Standing

Credit Hours: (3)

Discussion of and practice in the design and evaluation of psychological research, including measurement and experimental design, their limitations and sources of confounding and the interpretation of data. Techniques for performing cost-effectiveness analysis and cost-benefit analysis in mental health and other human services will also be covered.

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Lecture and demonstrations will be used with class discussion to present material related to research methods in psychology.

 

Goals and Objectives of the Course

Graduate students will become knowledgeable about research in psychology to make them both better researchers and better consumers to research.

 

Assessment Measures

Graded assignments may include in-class tests, a final examination, pop quizzes, the assignment and presentation of exercises, and projects, and class preparation and participation.

A research proposal will be required.
