PSYC 775: Special Topics in Counseling Psychology
Prerequisite: Either PSYC 610 or PSYC 611, the latter of which may be taken simultaneously

Course is designed to engage the student in current research areas in counseling psychology.
Counseling research will be reviewed, analyzed and critiqued. Individuals will conduct
a review of the literature in a selected area of research.
Note(s): This is a pass/fail course.
Detail Description of Content of Course
Students will select area for investigation based on their interests and projected work settings. Students will have the option of either working individually or with other members of the class. Students will explain, defend and likely modify research proposals based on whole group discussions. Students will also meet with the instructor to clarify individual research questions.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
The course is conducted in a discussion format in which proposals of research are critiqued by other class members.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
The student will learn the complexities of the research process especially as applied to the counseling setting. The student will also learn issues of research design.
Assessment Measures
Research project written in appropriate form is the end product. Pass/Fail
