V. Course Description:
Provides public health specific interprofessional competencies. Students discuss fundamental
concepts of community collaboration and advocacy to bring about change in a community’s
health status. There is an emphasis on working with interprofessional teams and members
of the community.
Note(s): General Education and Applied Learning designated course.
VI. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:
- Describe ways to engage stakeholders in discussions about issues that affect their
own communities.
- Discuss effective community organizing strategies through collaborative practice.
- Summarize the key components for developing an effective advocacy strategy with an
inter professional team and community members.
