Sociology 365. Society and the Individual
Three hours lecture.
Prerequisite: SOCY 110 or SOCY 121
This course is designed to introduce students to sociological social psychology. Students
will explore the theories and methods of sociological social psychology as well as
concepts such as identity, socialization, deviance, mental health, emotions, and relationships
over the life course.
Note(s): Cultural or Behavioral Analysis designated course. Students cannot receive credit
for both SOCY 265 and SOCY 365.

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Through lectures, small group activities and discussions, use of audio-visual materials, and student presentations, students will be engaged in the understanding and practice of symbolic interactionism.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
Students will gain knowledge of the symbolic interactionist perspective, the skills to apply this perspective to their worlds, and recognize their role in the production of reality.
Assessment Measures
Graded assignments may include in-class exams, presentations, quizzes, written assignments, and a final exam.
