Achieving Academic Success

Prerequisites: Cumulative GPA below 2.00 or entering Radford University academically
                                    at-risk or department approval.
This course supports and develops students in academic recovery and academically at-risk
                                    students.  Using structured exercises, reading assignments, self-reflection, lectures,
                                    and classroom activities, students will establish and develop varying academic goals. 
                                    Students will learn, develop, and implement strategies to achieve personal and academic
                                    comprehension.  Depending on context, the course offers strategies either for students
                                    in initial stages of academic recovery or for those in continuing stages of academic
                                    recovery.
Note(s): This course may be repeated for credit up to three times.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
As a result of successfully completing UNIV 150, students will:
1. Utilize academic policies related to course withdrawals and repeats to make intentional
                                    informed choices within their course enrollment;
2. Describe academic and support services, across campus. (e.g. Center for Accessibility
                                    Services, Harvey Center for Learning and Writing, Student Counseling Services/SAVES,
                                    and Highlander Success Center);
3. Formulate strategies that address academic, social, and emotional challenges;
4. Meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss academic goals, challenges, and opportunities;
5. Meet with a counselor to discuss personal goals, challenges, and opportunities
                                    or complete a comparable activity with instructor approval
