If you are dealing with a situation that will or has prevented you from attending class, your first step is to contact your instructor(s). Most absences can be handled by the instructor.
Notification of a class absence from the Office of the Dean of Students does not excuse students from classes and/or course requirements. The ultimate decision regarding absences, missed work, or academic extensions is at the discretion of the instructor. Your instructor will decide if the absence is excused or unexcused.
