Radford University uses multiple communication technologies to quickly notify students, faculty, staff, and visitors of a perceived or actual threat and/or emergency situation that may directly impact the campus community.

Tips

• Stay informed. Be aware of your surroundings so that you are better prepared to react should some sort of event occur.
• Avoid passing unsubstantiated information and rumors.
• Develop an emergency plan with family and friends. For instance, make sure all phone numbers, cell phone numbers, and e-mail addresses are up-to-date and distributed. Designate an out-of-town friend or relative as a point of contact to relay family information should communication become difficult.
• Cooperate with law enforcement and emergency officials.
• Take responsibility for your personal safety and well-being. Keep emergency supplies accessible and your automobile tank full. Maintain non-perishable food supplies and bottled water to sustain you and your family for several days. Keep a small amount of cash available should banks, ATM machines, and credit/debit card services become unavailable.
