The College of Visual and Performing Arts proudly presented the following world renowned performers at Radford University.
It's an audio-visual treat when The Queen's Cartoonists come to Radford to play live scores to classic cartoons. Projecting selections from more than 100 years of cartoons from around the world, the Queen's Cartoonists play the original scores live or mix it up with their own jazz and classical inspired compositions. As they explain, "The Queen’s Cartoonists bring animated films to life, perfectly synchronizing their performances with the films projected on stage. The band matches the energy of the cartoons, leading the audience through a world of virtuosic musicianship, multi-instrumental mayhem, and comedy."
The University Performance Series proudly presents an evening of exceptional classical music with a performance by the Polish Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra, a truly world-class ensemble. The orchestra formed in Poland at the end of World War II and provided the first post-war concert in that country, a sign of resilience in very dark times. Since then, they have played around the world.
Maestro Wojciech Rodek is considered one of the best of his generation and soloists Thomasz Ritter (piano) and Sara Dragan (violin) are highly decorated. The performance will feature three fairly well-known pieces, the overture to Rossini's opera, La gazza ladra (or The Thieving Magpie), Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor and Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

The Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine headquartered in the Medieval city of Lviv was officially established on September 27, 1902 as, on this day, the first concert of the newly formed orchestra took place in the Philharmonic Theater of Count Stanislav Skarbko (presently known as the Ukrainian National Academic Theater of Drama named after Maria Zankovetska). The Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine has toured extensively around the world including Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and The People’s Republic of China. During the past several seasons they have completed highly-acclaimed recordings for major international labels including Naxos and Brilliant Classics. The orchestra is lead by conductor Theodor Kuchar who has worked and recored with such notables as Sarah Chang, James Galway, Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Frederica von Stade, amoung many others.
