Departmental Training

Robots Shaking HandsIn addition to open-enrollment instructional lab sessions our trainers will work with you to identify and schedule small-group training targeted toward your department's specific needs. To discuss how technology can meet your group needs please contact us by emailing acadcomp@radford.edu.

We have often been told that the time spent in our training sessions has "paid for itself" many times over; if you take the time out of your busy schedules to learn how to be more efficient with the tools you use everyday then you will end up working much, much smarter instead of harder.

We have found that training sessions have more impact when conducted with a group of people that already know one another and have a unified set of goals. We have helped departments learn the techniques involved in using Outlook calendars to setup group meetings, for example, as well as other powerful features of Microsoft Outlook that may otherwise be overlooked.

Microsoft Excel is another software package that is ubiquitous throughout the campus. It is such a complex program, and in general users exhibit widely varying degrees of comfort with the many techniques involved. Many areas have benefitted from departmental training in Excel, leveraging their skill set by guaranteeing a unified proficiency in the areas they most need to be efficient in as a group. Sometimes it is just through a session describing several time-saving tips and tricks, or an hour-and-a-half spent learning techniques of formulas or functions.
