Lauren Coble was recently appointed Administrative Manager and Ombudsperson for the Virginia Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts and Humanities. She is also currently serving as Director of Chorus at Dinwiddie High School in Central Virginia, where she specializes in teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced-level chorus and guitar ensembles. Coble’s educational philosophy emphasizes creating inclusive, student-centered environments that inspire creativity and personal growth.
For more than a decade, Lauren has dedicated herself to fostering community engagement and advancing arts education. She co-founded and chairs the
Dinwiddie County Public Schools K-12 Fine Arts Festival, which began in 2023 and has become an annual showcase of K-12 students’ talents in visual arts, theater, and music. In her nine years as chair of the Teacher Appreciation Week committee, she has strengthened community ties and celebrated educators’ contributions in meaningful ways.
Lauren’s experience with the Governor’s School is deeply rooted, having previously served as a Vocal Adjudicator and Summer Residential Counselor for the program. She now returns to this leadership role with a commitment to clear communication, fairness, and building genuine relationships. Her work as Ombudsperson centers on promoting mutual respect, conflict resolution, and collaboration among the program’s diverse population.
Since beginning her career, Lauren has focused on creating opportunities for students to connect, grow, and share their talents. Her efforts have inspired younger students to pursue music education and performance, fostering a pipeline of future talent. She has been twice awarded as teacher of the month in 2015 and 2022. In 2016 she was recognized as a Dinwiddie County “20 to watch” educator who innovates and provides inclusivity in her classroom.
Lauren earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Radford University, where she graduated with honors.
