Let's Talk is a program that provides easy access to informal confidential consultations with counselors from Student Counseling Services (SCS) during the fall and spring semesters. It runs Monday - Thursday, 3 p.m.-4:30pm in Davis Hall 008 during the academic year.
There is no appointment or fee necessary. Let's Talk is not formal counseling - it is a drop-in service where students can have an informal consultation with a counselor from time to time.
Let's Talk is NOT for students who are in crisis. If you have thoughts of hurting yourself, others, or experiencing hallucinations of any type, access help through our emergency contacts.

No. Let's Talk is one-on-one informal counseling where you will sit with a clinician and talk about what is going on, as needed. This is first come, first served, so you may wait for another student to finish their consultation before being seen - but you will be alone when chatting with a Let's Talk counselor.
Absolutely. The counselor will talk through your concern(s) with you and help you determine the best way to get help.
Conversations with Let's Talk counselors are confidential, with a few very rare exceptions. Counselors may need to share information in an emergency when there is an immediate threat of harm to self or others. Counselors are required by law to report when a minor, elderly person, or someone otherwise incapacitated and unable to act on their own behalf is being abused. Let's Talk counselors keep brief, written notes of their contact with students, and in the event that there is an emergency or a student is referred to Student Counseling Services, may see these notes. Let's Talk visits are not noted on a student's offical university record. We don't want anything to be a barrier to students accessing help. If you ahve further questions about confidentiality, we encourage you to discuss them with a Let's Talk counselor.
