If you are interested in starting services, call our office at 540-831-5226 to schedule your first appointment. You will meet with a clinician at that time for a 15-20 minute initial consultation where you and the clinician will talk about your concerns and decide what the best service is for you and will get you scheduled for future appointments.
Currently enrolled students are be eligible for services at SCS. In rare situations, staff may refer students whose concerns are beyond the scope of this office to effectively treat. Examples of possible concerns that may result in outside referrals include the following: students who have been psychiatrically hospitalized possibly due to a temporary detention order; students with severe drug use/misuse or dependence; and students who are non-compliant or create a hostile work environment. SCS staff will assist students in finding appropriate local referral sources when any of these situations occur. Students are always eligible for emergency assessments as needed.

This group is available to support Radford University students who are experiencing concerns related to impactful loss. This includes mourning the death of loved ones, as well as the endings of important relationships or friendships. Grief comes in many forms. Join us as we navigate loss together.
You must present a valid photo ID (Radford ONE Card, Driver's License, etc.) at your first appointment. There is a $25 fee for any scheduled appointment that a student does not attend or does not cancel with at least a 24-hour advance notice.
College can be a wonderful experience, but also stressful. Student Counseling Services (SCS) is here to help you increase your coping skills therefore you can have a more successful college experience. Short-term individual counseling is available for enrolled students, as clinically appropriate, with two options: traditional counseling (50 minute sessions) or concise counseling (30 minute sessions). If a student requires more intensive services or longer-term counseling, local treatment options and potential referrals will be offered. Groups change each semester, so make sure to check the website and social media platforms regularly to see what SCS has to offer. We also offer limited after-hour appointments (Monday – Thursday) to students that demonstrate a need for appointments after 5 p.m. (students who work full-time, have an all day clinical internship, student teaching, etc.). During your initial consultation appointment, please let the clinician know that you would be interested in one of these slots.
