CHBS Building

The new CHBS building, currently under construction, is more than just bricks and mortar. The outside is designed to reflect what happens on the inside.

Facing one of the two quads on the main campus, the CHBS building features Georgian architecture.  The look and feel of the façade will enhance the beauty of Radford’s campus as it rises from the site nestled between Muse Hall and McConnell Library.

The Main Street side of the building features a more contemporary exterior.  This side welcomes the community and invites collaboration among students, faculty, and community partners.

The interior flow of the new CHBS building draws people in to work collectively to solve problems and to grow as learners.  Offices in the new building will serve as “interactive inquiry environments” and are designed to accommodate faculty members working in small groups with students in applied projects designed to mirror the tasks students will undertake in their professional lives after graduation.

The new CHBS building will also include fully collaborative learning areas, a mock trial/moot courtroom, television studio, forensic laboratory, and an Emergency Management Center. These unique teaching and learning facilities are designed to prepare students to compete for the best internships and secure good jobs after graduation.

The new building was designed by Moseley Architects of Virginia Beach.  S.B. Ballard, also of Virginia Beach, is the construction management firm overseeing the project.  Within construction already underway, the new CHBS building is scheduled to be completed by 2016.
