School of Teacher Education and Leadership

The School of Teacher Education and Leadership offers a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (Teacher Education). With five concentrations that lead to licensure, you will be prepared to become a teacher for children from birth through grade 12.

We also collaborate with other colleges to prepare students who wish to teach specific content areas. Learn more about our Secondary Education option.

Graduate studies in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership are designed to prepare you for administrative, supervisory and related instructional and non-instructional positions in Virginia’s educational system.

  • Ideal for practicing and prospective educators. Options include:

    • Curriculum and instruction (without licensure)
    • Curriculum and instruction (with licensure)
    • Math Education
  • Designed to prepare professional personnel to fill positions as Pre-K-12 school principals or instructional supervisors in Virginia.

  • This program equips you to serve as a literacy leader in the K-12 setting and offers an opportunity to earn endorsement credentials to become a Reading Specialist in Virginia.

     

  • Design a program of study to meet your interests and teacher licensure needs. Options include:

    • Special Education, General Curriculum K-12
    • Special Education, Adapted Curriculum K-12
    • Early Childhood Special Education
    • Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Pre-K-12
    • Visual Impairment, Pre-K-12

     

  • Designed to prepare practicing professional educators to fill positions as educational leaders at the district level in Virginia.
