Research Support

Research skills are a vital part of any library system. Our University Libraries staff is here to support your research needs, whether you’re an undergraduate, graduate or member of our faculty. You have access to over 300 research databases, well over a hundred different LibGuides and our entire catalog of research skills videos. Library staff are available from both locations via chat, email or in-person appointment to help you with your research needs. We also offer library information sessions to facilitate classroom learning.

At McConnell Library

At the McConnell Library location, our Research Help Desk is located on the 3rd floor, in the library commons on our campus in Radford, VA.

Make an appointment with a specific McConnell Librarian

  • Schedule an online or in-person consultation with a librarian at McConnell Library to access their calendar tool.
  • Email the Research Help Desk with a few times that work for you.

At RUC Library

Students doing research at the Radford University at Carilion Library can find in-person support on the 5th floor of the Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Reach out for research needs by contacting the staff below or using our Ask a Librarian chat.

Research Workshops, Events and Programming

We offer virtual and in-person research skills workshops at both library locations. Many workshops are drop-in instructional sessions that students from either campus are welcome to attend (please double-check with library staff). In addition to research workshops, we offer events and programming to provide instruction and entertainment throughout the school year.
