Anatomy professors in the news
The anatomy and physiology professors in the Biology Department have been busy this summer, attaining many successes for their research endeavors and their students.
Dr. Laura Gruss (Biology), Dr. Cass Urista (Anthropological Sciences) and two of their SURF students, Angelina Walters and MegAnne Gilmore, completed a data collection trip in Knoxville TN (pictured, left).
They visited there in May to measure femurs and pelvises to test a hypothesis about how pelvic breadth and knee angle are related and the effects that relationship might have on knee arthritis.
Drs. Laura Gruss, Matt Close, and Sara O’Brien have a forthcoming publication in Proceedings of the West Virginia Academy of Science about their use of cadavers in A&P education at Radford.
Dr. O'Brien and Assistant Professor Dr. Steve McBride also were awarded a SEED grant on their research in decomposing plastics using soil organisms.
Congratulations to all the professors for a job well done!
