Outreach and Services

The faculty of the Radford University Forensic Science Institute provide outreach programs and services to communities locally, regionally, and nationally. Some highlights of the services they provide include:

Dr. Donna Boyd was deployed to Haiti in 2010 to assist with recovery and identification of victims after the devastating earthquake.

  • Forensic Science presentations and workshops are offered regularly to school groups including, CSI camps, Radford University Science Days, Radford University Summer Bridge, and Southwest Virginia STEM days;
  • RUFSI faculty (Drs. Cliff and Donna Boyd) offer expert contractual services as Forensic Archaeologist and Forensic Anthropologist, respectively, to the Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner;
  • RUFSI faculty serve as SWGANTH (Scientific Working Group for Anthropology) consultants, offering recommendations for best practices in Forensic Anthropology on a national level;
  • RUFSI faculty serve as members of the U. S. Dept. of Health and Human Services DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team), Region III; Dr. Donna Boyd assisted with recovery and identification efforts associated with the Haiti Earthquake in 2010.
